Job description: Trainmaster

 

Duties: Responding to service disruptions such as trespasser strikes and mechanical breakdowns. Creating supporting documents for such disruptions as trespasser strikes and other incidents and accidents. Working with other Trainmasters in efficiency testing and evaluations for Conductors and Engineers. Currently working on the PTC project at Caltrain. Working with Parsons and GE in getting crews and test train on the mainline for testing purposes. Training Engineers and Conductors on the PTC software, rules and running on the mainline while PTC is in operation.

Job description: Locomotive Engineer

 

Duties: Operate trains on Caltrain territory between San Francisco and Gilroy, follow GCOR rules and understand signal indication and aspects. Read and understand and obtain all related books and circulars. Perform proper job briefings with the crew before starting our tour of duty. Perform the correct air tests on the equipment before leaving the yard. Entering the mainline on the correct signal indication. Making sure to follow correct speeds through permanent speed zones and turn outs while operating on the mainline. Comply with mandatory directives issued by dispatch, and communicate with other trains when needed before entering a hold-out station.

Job Description: Commuter rail train dispatcher/Rail operations supervisor:

 

Duties: Overseeing and control train movement, authorizing occupancy of right-of-way for trains and maintenance of way by radio and phone on FrontRunner Commuter Rail. Creating a daily track bulletin for authority, lining routes for train movement on main track and sidings according to schedules to provide safe meet points using a computer aided train dispatching system. Making all train movements according to GCOR and train dispatching rules and procedures, including evacuation procedures. Relaying trouble shooting techniques to train operators from vehicle maintenance. Communicating with light rail and bus to create a smooth commute for riders transferring between transportation modes. As a Rail Operations Supervisor: I assisted train operators with setting hand brakes and class II brake tests at the end of the line, assisted the operators with trouble shooting for mechanical problems.  Also conducted efficiency tests on train operators and responded train accidents as an investigator for UTA.
